This Friday on Smackdown, Roman Reigns will defend his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship for the first time since Wrestlemania 38. This title defense will be against Riddle and the capacity of the match was raised on last night’s Monday Night Raw.
The June 13 episode of Raw was kicked off with an episode of Miz TV featuring a special guest, Roman Reigns’ Special Counsel, Paul Heyman. Heyman and The Miz were chattering about the upcoming Money In The Bank Ladder match and how the winner of that match may eventually get a shot at the WWE Universal Championship, down the road.

It was then noted how Roman Reigns may not remain a Champion after Money In The Bank since Riddle is scheduled to receive a title match on Smackdown which then became the focal point of the discussion between the two. Heyman revealed that he had a special stipulation added to raise the stakes for the title match.
Riddle has an ultimatum heading into the title match against Roman Reigns
Riddle was thus forced to come out and join the conversation as he wanted to know about the stipulation. Heyman was amused by his guts as he proceeded to explain the stipulation that goes as follows: If Riddle wins, he becomes the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, but if he loses the match, he can never challenge for the championship again as long as Roman Reigns is the champion.
Riddle became the number-one contender for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship when he defeated Sami Zayn in the main event of this past Friday’s episode of SmackDown. That match was also contested under a stipulation that added if Riddle won, he earned his title shot, but if he lost, he was permanently banned from “SmackDown”.
After his victory, Roman Reigns’ right hands – WWE Undisputed Tag Team Champions Jimmy and Jey Uso attacked Riddle, but The King of Bros was able to fend off the attack and stand tall to end the show.

That win is forcing Roman Reigns to come out of his short hiatus as he will be putting his title on the line, this week. Since Riddle’s win, the dual champion expressed his state of mind with a statement on Twitter which reads the following: “Now I have to leave the private island …jump on the private yacht ….and then board the private jet just to smash this idiot on #Smackdown Tribal Chief problems.”
