Roman Reigns was back to in-ring action during the 2020 Payback event. He’s now on top of the food chain by winning the WWE Universal Championship as he won the Triple Threat main event. He made a late entry into the match that was taking place between “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman and then pinned the latter name to win the gold.
According to the reports of Paul Davis of WrestlingNews.co, WWE Universe can expect a witness a lengthy title reign for Roman Reigns now that he is back and in charge of the WWE programming. WWE boss Vince McMahon is said to be the backbone of this push to establish the heel character of the current champion.

Roman Reigns To Have A Lengthy Title Reign Until WWE Wrestlemania 37
Apparently the plan for him was to change his babyface character following his match against Goldberg at WrestleMania 36. A win in a short match would have out the chip on his shoulders and that would give an edge to The Big Dog character. Although the match never happened, this plan around Roman Reigns was never scrapped.
WWE officials firmly believe that in the end, Roman Reigns will be cheered by the audience when they’d be able to attend the shows. The goal still is to get him to the same top-tier level to that of John Cena where the fans make him the most polarizing superstar of the roster and react to his appearances.
“Vince is not playing around. He wants Roman to hold onto that belt until WrestleMania at least. Everyone knows the fans will cheer him and we all expect him to be a babyface sooner than later but the games with the silly verbiage in promos are done with. Roman will have more input this time with his promos,” the source added.
Prior to the Payback PPV appearance, Roman Reigns returned at WWE’s SummerSlam 2020 pay-per-view event by attacking both Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman after their Universal Title match. After that on SmackDown, it was revealed that he had aligned himself with Paul Heyman.
Since WrestleMania 36, Reigns had been off WWE programming due to coronavirus concerns. He was originally scheduled to compete against Goldberg for the Universal Championship at the show of shows but then got replaced by Strowman.
