In the main event WWE SummerSlam 2022 premium live event, Roman Reigns defeated Brock Lesnar in a Last Man Standing match to retain his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. With this win, he was able to complete 700 days as champion. He is also the longest reigning World Champion of the last 35 years.
The dual champion tag is attached to Roman Reigns since Wrestlemania 38. Despite holding the two top world titles in the WWE, he’s been working on a lighter WWE schedule and hence, doesn’t appear on SmackDown every week. The reason behind this is that the top-most WWE Superstar wants to spend more time with his family.
Becky Lynch Blasts Roman Reigns For Irregular WWE Appearances In 2022
Roman Reigns appeared on The Today Show recently and revealed that he grabbed a lighter schedule now so that he can spend time with his five kids (he had two sets of twins and their elder sister with his wife Galena) at home. The Head Of The Table said that he has to keep everything on schedule to maintain a healthy family life,
“When you have that many kids, you really have to have a schedule and just try to get everything in line and you’re just kind of treating it like a business because there’s just so many of them and you have to try to delegate and give them all as much attention as possible.
So it’s been great, you know, my schedule shifted around a little bit so I have a lot more time at home now and I can feel that relationship strengthening and those bonds are getting better and better so it’s a very blessed situation.”

Roman Reigns blamed to keep two titles under hostage
That being said, WWE is reportedly moving forward with an old Brock Lesnar storyline for Roman Reigns who will continue to be on a part-time schedule, per a report from WWFOldSchool.
When Lesnar had the then-longest Universal Title reign for over 500 days, superstars called him out for keeping the title hostage and get stronger babyface reactions from the audience. WWE is doing the same with Roman Reigns, as Drew McIntyre has recently called out the champion with the same allegations.
Roman Reigns’ next title defense will come against McIntyre at the Clash at the Castle premium live event in Cardiff, Wales, next month. Current betting odds suggest that the champion is still the favorite to retain his titles and continue the historic run while many believe that WWE is setting up McIntyre to have his big moment in front of the fans by winning the Undisputed Championship.
