Ever since Roman Reigns has made his way to the blue show of WWE; Smackdown, things have changed a lot for him. WWE was determined to push him high since the very first day of his arrival. But fans were pretty much unhappy just after a while. The same complaint with him remained that always stayed with John Cena; he was being over pushed.
At a time, WWE stopped over pushing Roman Reigns but one complaint was still there; fans wanted him as a heel. And that is what exactly happened soon after he joined Smackdown. He started playing a new gimmick of a Tribal Chief and Paul Heyman started accompanying him. He also won the WWE Universal Championship as well.
Roman Reigns On His Tribal Chief Character
This time fans did not mind it. In fact, they loved it. Reigns played his role superbly and he is currently carrying Smackdown as a prime show. Recently he spoke to The People where he discussed his Tribal Chief Persona;
“It feels good. There’s a lot of truth to what we put into the Tribal Chief character, the burden of the crown, of being the face of the company. I think everybody would like to be Superman, but to be able to have some of those Superman qualities, then also display the emotions, the mentality that comes into it, and the way it can affect a man.
People connect to that. People understand the struggle, people understand these different battles, these emotional battles that my character kind of displays on a weekly basis,” he continues. “I think it allows for a different connection, and that’s why it’s been received so well.”
Roman Reigns is walking into WrestleMania as a heel champion for the first time in his career and fans are super excited about his match. The new gimmick gave him a completely new attitude and Paul Heyman’s company made him more of a complete champion.
There is just simply a wish. We hope to see WWE build a stable beside Roman Reigns with at least three men. This will give his persona an even better touch and things will be more interesting as well. We hope WWE thinks about this soon.
