As seen at the end of the SummerSlam 2020 pay-per-view, Roman Reigns returned to WWE in an emphatic fashion. He destroyed new Universal Champion, “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt with several Spears whereas the former champion, Braun Strowman suffered a ruthless beating with some chair shots.
From the get-go of this return, the direction for Roman Reigns seems clear where he wants to go after the Universal Championship. Even the WWE creative team has the same plan where they want to see him on the top of the food chain. So, we can expect some big matches for him in the next few months those were scrapped, earlier this year.

Roman Reigns Vs The Fiend/Goldberg Happening Soon In WWE?
Roman Reigns was originally scheduled to compete in a Universal Championship match against Goldberg at WrestleMania earlier this year. Before Goldberg vs. Reigns match was announced, WWE wanted to do The Fiend vs. Reigns for the title at WrestleMania. Later, plans changed Vince McMahon considered Goldberg as a bigger draw than The Fiend.

Now, the canceled feud is back in the planning. The Wrestling Observer reports that WWE now wants to kick-off the one-on-one rivalry between The Fiend and Roman Reigns. These two would be featuring in the main-event title picture after Payback is done. Here’s more from the source.
“The big match is probably gonna be Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt which is the match that they were originally gonna have at WrestleMania before Vince changed his mind and went with Goldberg.
That had been planned probably since October, so that’s the direction they’re going in now, but they didn’t want to go right away and with a one-week build it would have been stupid to do it right away.”

This means the two top stars of SmackDown could face each other at Clash Of Champions or Hell In A Cell, or perhaps, the both of them.
Additionally, it was recently noted by Goldberg that his in-ring career is far from over as his WWE contract is intact. It would run through 2023 producing two matches, per year. So the dream Goldberg vs Roman Reigns could soon become a reality. For now, The Fiend, Reigns, and Strowman will collide in a No Holds Barred Triple-Threat match at Payback this Sunday for the Universal Championship.
