Roman Reigns is undoubtedly the biggest superstar in the current WWE locker room. Despite the heel shtick, he can be considered to be the poster boy of the WWE who is carrying the banner, effectively. WWE always had a so-called franchise figure on their roster starting with the likes of Hulk Hogan, The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and John Cena.

By the looks of it, the duty was handed to Roman Reigns over the past few years where he can be considered to be the current franchise player for the company. He already stamped the Head of the Table tag by his side as everyone is bound to acknowledge him as the number-one guy. But there is a strong number-two who may become a successor for him, down the road.

The Tribal Chief is all set to defend his WWE Universal Championship against Edge at Money in the Bank and if truth be told then he wishes the torch to be passed to Drew McIntyre of Monday Night Raw. While speaking to Cheap Heat Podcast with Peter Rosenberg, Roman Reigns was asked about who is directly under him in WWE. Reigns said that he’s the top dog in WWE, no matter which brand you’re discussing.

Roman Reigns considers McIntyre as a strong #2 guy

But then Roman Reigns also namedropped Drew McIntyre as a perfect number-two for all his efforts,

“I could say my favorite #2, Drew. He’s my favorite #2, 3’s whatever you wanna call them. We can rank them. It really don’t matter, they’re under me. How far under? Who really knows? Who really cares at this point? I mean how strong of a #2 do you wanna be at this point, and right now my favorite is Drew McIntyre.”

“So, in a perfect world if there was an opportunity to pass the torch to him, he’s the one guy I think that has captivated my attention in that manner, but at the same time he ain’t there and it’s only because I’m still here and so solid within my foothold, my stronghold.”

Roman Reigns Wants To Pass The Torch In WWE To Drew McIntyre? 2

This isn’t the first time that Roman Reigns mentioned McIntyre as a strong number-two. Back at Survivor Series 2020, when these two names have collided in mega warfare the build of the storyline revolved around this theory. There’s a chance that these two might head into another collision course after WWE Draft as McIntyre could be heading into Smackdown.

Without a doubt, Drew McIntyre had an impressive run as WWE Champion during the ThunderDome days who defeated Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36 in front of zero live fans. He carried that title through the ThunderDome era until Bobby Lashley toppled him earlier this year. At the same time, Roman Reigns ruled the yard on Smackdown since Summerslam of last year.
