Roman Reigns defeated Brock Lesnar to become the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion at WrestleMania 38. Although it was noted as a title unification match, the dual champion defended the Universal Title separately at a few Live Events after that against Drew McIntyre. Hence, both the world titles remained in separate ways.
Over on TV, Roman Reigns only had two televised title defenses between Wrestlemania 38 and Summerslam, and both of those were for the WWE and Universal Titles, together known as the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. At WWE Clash At The Castle on September 3 in the UK, the champion is again scheduled to defend the Undisputed Title against Drew McIntyre in the main event match.

But things could change around the match given Karrion Kross’ shocking return on this past episode of Smackdown. The former WWE NXT Champion had ambushed Drew McIntyre from behind and also indicated that he’s coming after the titles held by Roman Reigns.

“We’ve also heard of a specific pitch within creative and one of the reasons for it.
Among the pitches we’ve learned is that Kross would be inserted into the Drew McIntyre – Roman Reigns feud and be involved in a match for one of Roman Reigns’ World Titles, as opposed to both.”

One of the Roman Reigns’ world titles to return on Raw
It was added in the report that the host of Raw programming, USA Network has specifically discussed with WWE the idea of returning a top title to the red brand since Roman Reigns rarely appears on Monday nights. An internal USA pitch also brought up the idea of introducing an Interim World Title to appear on Monday nights until something bigger falls in place but WWE creative may haven’t considered the idea.
That being said, things around the dual titles in the WWE have become interesting, heading into Clash at the Castle. Karrion Kross and Scarlett returned on Smackdown with the “Fall and Pray” entrance theme and blindsided Drew McIntyre. Roman Reigns watched from the ring as and learned that he now has a new target on his back.
