Ronda Rousey is unarguably the biggest mainstream name that WWE could possibly have on their female roster. A few years ago, the UFC Hall of Famer made the transition from the world of combat sports to professional wrestling. Within an average timespan, she could have adjusted to WWE’s method of professional wrestling and then made her debut in a record time.

Wrestlemania 34 marked Ronda Rousey’s official TV debut in the WWE where she literally shocked the pro-wrestling world by showcasing her incredibly agile in-ring skills. Prior to that match, she was featured in another prior segment with Stephanie McMahon, The Rock, and Triple H at WrestleMania 31 to win the hearts of the WWE fans.

That being said, Ronda Rousey was considered to be a bonafide babyface player in the WWE. But things could change in the WWE in a quick timespan. By the end of her first run in the company, major fan backlash converted her into a top heel. Then while making her comeback in 2022, she was treated as a babyface, again. But down the road, she wants to be a heel, again.

Ronda Rousey idolizes legendary Roddy Piper

Ronda Rousey is a self-proclaimed die-hard fan of ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper as he remains an inspiration for her career. While wanting to be a villain, she believes that the late great had been “the best heel ever.” This is the reason she added the ‘Rowdy’ nickname during her MMA career as well as in the WWE. Plus, she also uses similar gears while walking into a match.

“He was the real heel though that wanted you to hate him, he wasn’t the cool guy heel that was like, ‘I want to be bad. I want to be cool. I want you to like me.’ That jacket that I wear is a replica of his jacket and is actually stab-proof because people would try to stab him,” Ronda Rousey stated about Piper.

“That’s what kind of heel I want to be. It’s so much easier to get people to hate someone than like them. I think a lot of people forget that the job of a heel is to get the babyface over, it’s not for everyone to think that you’re a cool heel.” (quotes courtesy Wrestling INC)

During her return to Royal Rumble, Ronda Rousey was skeptical about the response she received from the WWE Universe. So, the feeling was that the company would use her as a heel just where she left off in 2019. However, with Charlotte Flair already playing the role of a top heel, she had to be a babyface. The run has been successful, so far as she managed to become a Royal Rumble winner as well as a Smackdown Women’s Champion.
