During this past Saturday night’s WWE Money In The Bank 2022 premium live event, Ronda Rousey defeated Natalya with the arm-bar submission to retain her SmackDown Women’s Championship. This marked her third title defense since winning it Wrestlemania Backlash and she passed through this rigorous test.
But a kayfabe knee injury allowed the 2022 Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match winner to run out to the ring with his briefcase and cashed it successfully on Ronda Rousey to become the new Smackdown Women’s Champion. Not only Morgan captured her maiden title win in the WWE but also became the only third woman in WWE history to pin the former UFC Bantamweight Champion.

After the title changed hands at MITB, Ronda Rousey’s personal photographer, Lazie The Savage, took to his Instagram story and revealed that the former champion herself “demanded” to drop the title to Liv Morgan. Apparently, she wanted the most passionate pro-wrestler to end her reign and was happy with the outcome.
“Respect to Ronda Rousey, who never wanted or asked to be champion… and demanded that the most passionate pro wrestler be awarded the most prestigious title in our industry,” the caption of the video posted by Lazie stated.

Ronda Rousey feels Liv Morgan is a deserved champion in WWE
On a related note, Morgan spoke with Ariel Helwani of BT Sport, and she was asked what Ronda Rousey told her after the biggest win of her career. Morgan then revealed that ‘The Baddest Woman on the Planet’ told her she deserved it.
“She said, ‘You deserve it.”
Showing true sportsman spirit, Ronda Rousey handed the women’s title to Morgan after getting pinned at Money in the Bank. The two also hugged in the middle of the ring before the ex-champion left the ring. Going by the reports, she will be sticking around the title picture, moving forward.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the current plan is to have Liv Morgan vs. Ronda Rousey match at SummerSlam 2022. This could mean that WWE doesn’t see Morgan as a long-term champion,
“The fans won’t be happy with [Liv losing the title at SummerSlam]. But I don’t think the idea is to go with Ronda as a heel, because Charlotte Flair is going to be her opponent when she comes back.”
