Brock Lesnar became the Royal Rumble 2022 match-winner, this past Saturday night to earn a headliner spot at Wrestlemania 38. Apparently, Riddle was set to win the Men’s Rumble that took place in St. Louis, Missouri. But the plans ended up changing and Lesnar became the winner by entering at the number-30 spot.
Leading to Royal Rumble 2022, plans changed several times over the winner. PWInsider reports that Riddle was the front-runner to win the whole match until the final decision was made to have Lesnar get the win. He entered the fray in the last position remained there for barely 3 minutes before picking up the win.

It’s been noted that there was a pitch for hometown star Randy Orton to win Royal Rumble 2022 as well, but then the creative team went ahead with Riddle. The former Raw tag team champion was set to win until they went with Lesnar which is believed to be a last-minute decision.
Royal Rumble 2022 plans changed several times
Riddle entered the 30-Man Royal Rumble 2022 Match at the number 20 position and was the 27th elimination, tossed over the top rope by Lesnar. He picked up two eliminations during the match as he and Orton worked together in tossing out Big E and RAW Tag Team Champion Otis.
As for Lesnar, he was there on RAW to pick his WrestleMania 38 opponent, WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. Reigns attacked Lesnar at The Rumble, after Paul Heyman got himself back with Reigns. This helped Bobby Lashley to win the WWE Title from Lesnar at Royal Rumble 2022.
Heading into Raw, WWE announced that Lashley will defend his title against 5 challengers in the Elimination Chamber on February 19 in Saudi Arabia. Following his title win at Royal Rumble 2022, it will mark his first title defense inside the Elimination Chamber structure.

Riddle was announced to be one of the challengers announced for the upcoming match. Seth Rollins announced his spot, given to him without having to qualify since he never lost against WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at Royal Rumble 2022. Austin Theory defeated Kevin Owens to qualify, Riddle defeated RAW Tag Team Champion Otis to qualify while AJ defeated Rey Mysterio to qualify. Brock Lesnar is the remaining participant for the Chamber match.
