The IIconics used to be one of the most popular female tag team duos in the WWE women’s division, a couple of years ago. They share a great bond in and outside the ring which was obviously reflected in their in-ring antics, as well. This led the WWE creative to build them as excellent heels in the women’s tag team division. They also achieved the golds at the biggest stage of Wrestlemania in 2019.
But in April of 2021, The IIconics were let go from their contracts as WWE continued to trim down their roster under the name of COVID-19 related releases. Since then, they managed to make their presence felt in the Impact Knockouts Division as reigning tag champs. Plus, it appears that they also turned down an offer to appear for the Women’s Royal Rumble 2022 match.

The IIconics, now the Impact Wrestling Knockouts Tag Team Champions The IInspiration (Cassie Lee and Jessie McKay) were reportedly offered spots in the 2022 women’s Royal Rumble match, but they were not interested to make an appearance, according to Fightful Select.
The report also stated that an Impact Wrestling source said that Impact would have approved the deal with WWE, but The IInspiration did not want to go back to WWE.

The IIconics could still be upset over WWE release
It’s not stated why The IIconics have rejected the offer, but they didn’t want to show up in St. Louis, as they possibly are still fuming over their sudden release. At one point, they were in no position to even stay in the United States after losing their green card following their WWE release. Besides, it was their dream job to be with the WWE which came to an end without prior warning.
WWE and Impact reached a deal via which Impact Knockouts Champion Mickie James appeared at Royal Rumble which also thrashed down the so-called forbidden door set up by the company.
The IIconics could also be a part of the star-studded match but it was their choice to opt-out of the situation. It seems they’re really happy at their current position in Impact. Named Peyton Royce and Billie Kay, the Australian duo won WWE Women’s Tag Team titles at WrestleMania 35 in a huge Fatal-4-Way contest and held the titles for 120 days.
