Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens are involved in a feud right now which it seems like heading to WrestleMania 37. This is not the first time these two individuals are facing each other. They have had many rivalries and feuds in the past, and they have been a successful team in the past as well.
WWE has organized a fresh feud between the two individuals and this is the first time in WWE that Sami Zayn is playing the heel gimmick while Kevin Owens is the babyface.
Sami Zayn – Kevin Owens Feud Is Getting Beyond Kayfabe?
The feud seemed pretty rushed this time. They had way better build-ups in the past, but this time, it seems something is missing and it should not go to a stage like WrestleMania in such a lame way.
The question rises why WWE is suddenly building this feud while Sami has been presented as a weak opportunity in recent days. There might be something more than just a kayfabe feud.
In a recent episode of Talking Smack, Paul Heyman made a huge claim that Kevin Owens wanted him to ‘Bury’ Sami Zayn. He said,
“Listen, we were in meetings and it wasn’t even my idea to bury him. It was Kevin Owens’ idea to bury him. We were running hot on RAW and the Street Profits were the Tag Team Champions and I needed a tag team to go against the Street Profits. I went to Kevin Owens and I said, ‘Why don’t you team with Sami Zayn again and we’ll put you up against the Street Profits.’
“[Owens said] ‘Are you kidding me, I’ve known that guy since we were kids together, he’s a p***! I don’t like him, bury him in meetings.’ I said no no KO, I don’t wanna bury Sami in meetings.’ He said, ‘no no no, everyone else buries him, you might as well just bury him.’ I did. It was part of a conspiracy because Kevin Owens didn’t like him, he told me that that’s the way he was since he was a kid.” (H/T Fightful)
The claim has not been verified yet but this is a very serious claim. This all might be a part of the storyline though since Sami Zayn is talking about a conspiracy theory against him in Smackdown episodes and he is also shooting documentaries on it. He referred to ‘they’ were being unfair to him but he could not clarify who ‘they were actually. This ‘they’ could become ‘him’ and this ‘him’ may well be Kevin Owens.
If this is all kayfabe, then seriously hats off to whoever came up with this brilliant idea. This could be an amazing storyline if it is just a storyline. And we seriously hope it is because we seriously do not want to see such evil faces in Kevin Owens’ real-life character.
