WWE SmackDown star and a former three times WWE Intercontinental champion Sami Zayn who is also a former WWE NXT champion recently talked about his mentor in WWE Triple H who is the current WWE Head of Creative and revealed how he used to call him a “Slow Burn Guy.”

Sami Zayn was a huge name on the Independent circuit before joining WWE. After he joined WWE he worked on the NXT which was the development Territory of WWE. In the NXT he was treated as a main event star as he won the NXT Championship one time as well. When he joined the main roster everybody expected him to be treated as a main event star in the main roster as well.

Sami Zayn Reveals What Triple H Used To Say About Him

But unfortunately, that did not happen. He remained stuck as a mid card star in the main roster. Even though he won the WWE Intercontinental championship three times in total, he could not get his hands on any other championships. Fans believe that it was the injuries that he suffered after joining the main roster that kept him away from being a main event star.

But recently he is gaining massive support from the fans after getting involved in his latest storyline with the Bloodline and he has become the most popular guy among the WWE fans. This immense popularity may lead to a future main event push. He might even become a future World Champion in WWE. But right now it looks pretty difficult for him to become a World champion.

Sami Zayn who is also a former WWE NXT champion recently spoke to Peter Rosenberg where he talked about his mentor in WWE Triple H who is the current WWE Head of Creative and revealed how he used to call him a “Slow Burn Guy.” He said;

“Ages ago, Hunter [Triple H] told me this when I was in NXT, I forget exactly how he phrased it or why we were talking about it, but he said something along the lines of, ‘You’re a slow burn guy, you’re a slow build.’ I think he’s kind of right about that. Even when I compare careers, Kevin (Owens) and I coming up together.

“It felt like, in a lot of places, Kevin would jump out at you a bit more. ‘This Kevin guy is great,’ then it would take a minute or two for them to come around eventually, whether it was the fans or the Independents or a new territory or new company, five or six months down the line, ‘Oh, this act is really good and it delivers every time.’

“I think it comes down to delivering consistently. It’s tough to say. I don’t know if you could have plugged me into Roman’s spot and I would have been as accepted as Roman. For me, that character arc, you need to watch that progression. Then, it becomes a thing of, ‘it’s been two years, three years, five years, six years?

“This guy is always delivering for the last six years.’ It’s a slow and steady thing and the only way to come through is consistency. Being alongside Roman, where the level of investment is 100, always, for the audience and for the company and all sides, kind of put the pedal to the metal on that.”
