One of the biggest attractions of WCW was its Cruiserweight division. It was mostly famous because of its high flying professional wrestling style, amazing rivalries and excellent storylines. But the biggest attraction of the Cruiserweight division was the high flying action.

The Cruiserweight division has also produced some of the biggest stars of the next generation including the likes of Chris Jericho, Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko, Rey Mysterioand many other names. After WCW was purchased by WWE in 2001, they totally failed to continue The Legacy of the Cruiserweight division.

However, they attempted to restart the magic of the original Cruiserweight division in 2016 and it became quite successful at first but ultimately the success faded away and the title got merge with the NXT North American championship earlier this year. Fans like to believe that the original magic that was created by WCW is impossible to recreate.

“We ended up going down to the power plant. WCW hired me. I was the first of 21 cruiserweights that they hired to do a reality show, like Real World at the time. It was basically going to be a version of Tough Enough.”

“So Eric Bischoff, I think he had like the first Tough Enough idea because he was going to do it with us, the cruiserweights that he hired. He was going to put us in a house and show us working our way through the ranks, even though most of us had already been wrestling for six or seven years. Then finally, we would make it to WCW Nitro and that’s how we would start our career, but it was going to be a reality series.”

“But before that took off, they kiboshed that idea.”
