Shawn Michaels Reflects On His Current Relationship With Bret Hart
Things took a really nasty turn when they met each other at the Survivor Series pay per view event of 1997. The match was scheduled to determine the no 1 contender for the WWE World championship and it was the main event of the night. The original plan was to crown Shawn Michaels the winner, but Bret Hart refused to accept the defeat by the hands of Michaels.
While Michaels was locking Bret in the Sharpshooter submission maneuver, Vince McMahon called for the bell, even though Bret never tapped out. This incident is infamously known as The Montreal Screwjob. Bret Hart left WWE for WCW after that. But he return to WWE after nearly a decade and he buried the hatchet with Michaels. Right now they are good friends.

Shawn Michaels who is a former four times WWE World champion recently spoke to “The MMA Hour” with Ariel Helwani where he talked about his current relationship with his long time Rival WWE Hall of Famer “The Hitman” Bret Hart. He said;
“When everything is said and done, that was hard on both of us. It’s like an out-of-body experience. I have nothing in common with the person that I was then. … Bret and I always talk about it – there was a friendship there before. There really was. And to have damaged that … and to have wanted to mend it for so many years, … we could never get it done.

“I always appreciate it, … he always looks at me and goes ‘We’re good. We’re good, Shawn.’ And that means a lot, because I know it’s genuine. Bret doesn’t say stuff just to say it.
“You don’t want to go the rest of your life not having that healed. While Hart can often be known to harbor a grudge, it’s good to see that the past enemies have managed to bury the hatchet.”
