Former two times WWE NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler who is also a former two times WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion recently talk about her move to Friday night Smackdown. She also discussed what she is looking forward to at SmackDown.
Shayna Baszler made her WWE debut through the Mae Young Classic Tournament of 2018. She reached the final of the thirty two women tournament and finally lost to Kairi Sane. Soon, she arrived in WWE NXT and was presented as an unstoppable force. In a short amount of time, she won the NXT Women’s Championship two times in total. She dominated the NXT Women’s division for three years before coming to the main roster in early 2020.
Shayna Baszler Reflects On Moving To Smackdown
In the Women’s Royal Rumble match of 2020 she entered as the entrant number 30 and eliminated eight wrestlers single handedly. She was the final wrestler to be eliminated by Charlotte Flair before winning the match. Everybody criticized the way for making such a decision. Charlotte Flair did not need to win this match at all and even after winning the match WWE did not have any idea what to do with her. The match was clearly meant to be won by Baszler.
At WrestleMania 36, Baszler went on to challenge Becky Lynch for the WWE RAW Women’s Championship, however she lost the match. It was noted that Becky herself wanted to drop the title to Baszler. After losing this match Vince McMahon decided not to push her anymore for some reason, and she turned to a lower mid card.
She did win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship two times along with Nia Jax, still, she has never been elevated to the status she started to be in. Recently she has been drafted to Friday Night Smackdown and was being treated a little better than she was treated on Monday Night RAW. Hopefully, WWE would start pushing her once again.
Shayna Baszler who is also a former two times WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion recently spoke to Sportskeeda where she talked about her move to Friday night Smackdown. She also discussed what she is looking forward to at SmackDown. She said;
“I mean, I’ve been on Raw the whole time I’ve been here. So, going over to SmackDown, there’s a new locker room and there’s a whole crop of new talent, and on top of like things personally in my career. I’m not in a tag team now. I’ve been in a tag team for a while, so it’s a good way to look at it is that it’s a restart.
“Obviously, the title is always a goal for anyone that is in this business. But I really just want to, like we talked about, it’s a restart. So I just want to reestablish the fact that it’s a dangerous time to be in the ring with me. I hadn’t been on a tag team really before. Now that I’m stepping away from that, so to speak, it’s a good time to remind people what I’m about.
“And maybe even some people that didn’t see my NXT run to just even introduce them to what I’ve been about. There’s a lot of people and a lot of reasons to leave a legacy. I don’t know how to explain it. Obviously, the title is at the top of the picture. But really it’s about stamping my mark and letting people know what I’m about.”
