Former four times WWE World Champion famous who is also a former three times WWE United States champion recently talked about the original plans that WWE had for him for WrestleMania 37. At WrestleMania 37 the Celtic Warrior faced Matt Riddle for the WWE United States Championship.
As mentioned above, The Celtic Warrior went on to challenge Matt Riddle for the WWE United States Championship at WrestleMania 37. He defeated Riddle to win his third United States Championship at the grandest stage of them all. He retained the championship for four months before finally dropping it to Damian Priest at SummerSlam.

Before WrestleMania the final WWE pay per view event was Fastlane. In this event the Scottish Psychopath Drew McIntyre and the Celtic Warrior had an excellent battle. McIntyre, however, won the match since he was going on to challenge Bobby Lashley for the WWE title but at the end of the day the match was excellent.

According to Sheamus, his match against Drew McIntyre at Fastlane was the actual plan for WrestleMania 37. If the claim is true, then Bobby Lashley had some other opponent planned challenging for the WWE championship. In a recent interview Drew McIntyre also claimed that he wanted more time to tell a better storyline along with the Celtic Warrior.

“That was the plan, you know, I was hoping. Obviously different plans from WWE with Bobby and Drew. The whole idea was I got pushed and got that match at FastLane. You know, I wanted it to be at Mania.
“Just because of the story as well, of us coming together in Ireland and Scotland and wrestling. So, yeah, it was definitely something I wanted to do. It didn’t happen. And then I went and became United States Champion. So, it all worked out pretty good for me. It’s not working out so well for Drew, though.”
