Former WWE champion Sheamus seems to be done feuding for the WWE championship for now. But after back-to-back defeats in chase of the WWE championship, he does not seem like a legit contender for the title and it is more likely for him to slide out from the main event scenarios.

So is it time for him to reinstate himself in the mid-card section again? Maybe a run as the WWE United States Champion would help him a bit. Since there is no legit contender for Matt Riddle’s WWE United State Championship we think Sheamus could have been a great fit for the division before WrestleMania 37.

Sheamus To Feud For US Title At WrestleMania 37 – Full Analysis

Speaking of that, Sheamus was seen having some heated time with the WWE United States Champion Riddle this week on Monday night Raw. This is very much an indication of a possible feud for the WWE United States title. And because only three weeks remain before Wrestlemania, the possibilities are high that Sheamus will face Riddle for the title at the biggest and grandest stage of them all.

If the segment between Sheamus and Riddle from this week’s Monday night Raw marks the beginning of the title match feud between the individuals, it would be really terrible. Do you really think a funny backstage segment should lead to a WrestleMania title match? That would be really awful if it happens.

There are many occasions where backstage confrontations led to certain feuds, but most of them received weak receptions. As an example, Kane and Chris Jericho’s feud from late 2000 offered some great and classic matches but the feud started backstage which is considered to be one of the worst reasons behind a big feud.

Riddle and Sheamus’ feud will be no different if this backstage incident leads to a feud, and if it happens this will definitely be for the WWE United States Championship, which will be one of the worst reasons for a feud to start.

And what if the feud really gets booked for WrestleMania 37? What would be the best possible outcome from this feud? Well, of course, Matt Riddle should win. Having a successful defense against a former 4 times world champion would be a huge boost for the 35-year old’s career. And he deserves every bit of it.

Lastly, the feud would not be a bad idea, Sheamus and Matt Riddle fighting for the United States Championship at WrestleMania would be a great match. But they could not launch the feud in a good way. This would be another example of Smackdown’s creative team being better than the Raw creative team.
