The current and a two times WWE Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura who is also a former two times WWE United States champion recently talked about performing in the Tribute to the Troops event and said that it was a great honour performing in the event. He also praised the current WWE Universal champion Roman Reigns.
WWE organizes Tribute to the Troops event almost every year to show respect and gratitude towards the American military. A lot of big matches are always organized in these events. This year the WWE organized a champion vs champion match at the main event of the Tribute to the Troops show. WWE Universal champion Roman Reigns faced battled one on one against WWE Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura. Roman Reigns defeated Nakamura in this match.
Smackdown – Shinsuke Nakamura On Performing In Tribute To The Troops
Nakamura won the Intercontinental Championship just a number of months ago after he defeated the previous champion Apollo Crews. But it is quite unfortunate that the Intercontinental championship is one of the worst booked Championship in WWE right now.
Since WrestleMania, there has been no consistent feud for the title. Nakamura did not get any feud for the title yet. It shows the weak depth of the creative team of WWE right now.
The other mid card title of WWE that is the United States Championship which gets booked on Monday Night RAW is at least getting some bookings unlike the Intercontinental Championship on SmackDown.
A lot of fans were even asking for lower mid card championships for both RAW and Smackdown. Now it is pretty clear why it is impossible. They cannot even book their mid card titles, how come they would bring more championships?
Shinsuke Nakamura who is also a former two times WWE United States champion recently spoke to Sports Illustrated where he talked about performing in the Tribute to the Troops event and said that it was a great honour performing in the event. He also praised the current WWE Universal champion Roman Reigns. He said;
“Tribute is an honor for me, especially as a foreigner from Japan. Japan and [the] United States fought each other a long time ago, but it is wonderful to see the respect for all races and diversity. I am honored to pay my respect for everyone’s sacrifices.
“Roman has a real responsibility for WWE and professional wrestling, and a responsibility to his bloodline to be the best professional wrestler. He is one of the best in the world. But I need to get the WWE world title. I need to prove I’m better than him. Roman has that fighting spirit. I want to wrestle him more, and that includes Rick Boogs vs. Paul Heyman.”
