The former two times NXT champion Shinsuke Nakamura is up for a Universal Championship chance next according to reports. Nakamura, who is having a lower mid card role for quite a long time is capable of going strong on the main events consistently, which is known to all.
WWE wanted to push Shinsuke Nakamura after his main roster debut. He won the Royal Rumble match in 2018 and challenge AJ Styles for the WWE championship at WrestleMania 34. After losing this match he was given some mid card feuds with various wrestlers but was never raised back to the main event status.
Shinsuke Nakamura To Face Roman Reigns For The Universal Championship?
It seems like WWE is planning to raise Shinsuke Nakamura back to the main event status again. Right now he is having a non title feud with King Corbin. This previous week on SmackDown he defeated King Corbin in a non title match. And the way this feud is going it seems like WWE is planning something big for the Japanese professional wrestler.
Roman Reigns was having a feud with the former WWE United States champion Cesaro for his Universal Championship. There are a number of things that are suggesting that this feud is over for now. The first thing is Cesaro’s defeat by submission. And the other thing is, Cesaro looks to be continuing his feud with Seth Rollins.
There are a lot of wrestlers teasing for a Universal Championship match. Recently the former WWE Universal champion Kevin Owens also teased a possible feud for the Universal Championship. Owens Had a Feud for the Championship against Roman Reigns before WrestleMania even though he failed to capture the gold.
On the latest episode of Talking Smack, Paul Heyman asked Nakamura, “Nakamura, does it [excite you] just to think that one day, we may actually do King Nakamura against ‘The Tribal Chief’ Roman Reigns,”
After Nakamura asked Heyman to give his words to the tribal chief Heyman replied, “[I] promise, my King. Your kingdom is in good hands, sir. I shall send your regards to our Tribal Chief.” (H/T to Wrestling Inc)
If this feud actually takes place, it would be amazing to see. We do not think Roman Reigns would drop the title to Shinsuke Nakamura but this could potentially raise the Japanese professional wrestler to the much awaited main event status again.
