WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry received a very short main event run in WWE as he had a two times World Champion in the promotion. First, WWE Legend Kane pushed him to win the ECW Championship, and in 2011 he won the World Heavyweight Championship when Randy Orton did the honour of pushing him.
Mark Henry’s main event push received some criticism as well as he had always been treated as a mid carder in WWE. He did not even win many championships either. The only title apart from the mentioned two titles he won was the WWE European title which was actually a lower mid card title throughout the Attitude Era.
Shocking Revelation: Mark Henry Uncovers WWE Hall Of Famer Who Urged His Retirement Prior To Main Event Spotlight
Recently, Henry revealed that his fellow WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross wanted to retire before receiving his main event push. Even though his World Heavyweight title was pretty good and carried it for three months. Speaking on the latest episode of the Busted Open Radio, The World’s Strongest Man said;
On Jim Ross telling him to get out of the wrestling business: “Jim Ross had thought that I had, you know, lived out. The highest that I was going to be, you peaked and that you know they should move on from me being not only with the company but wrestling period. He was like, ‘You know, maybe it’s not for you.’
Jim Ross Wanted Mark Henry To Retire Prior To His Main Event Push
“And he said that in front of Vince. He said that in front of my manager. That was another reason why, when I had him by the tie after I won the championship, it was so f*cking sweet to say. ‘You were wrong about me.’ Here I stand, the champion of the world in this business. Any s**t you could say now and all of that s**t was real.
“And so the fans got the feel of what I felt like in my heart, not wrestling. It was like you get to tell your boss. In which he was the head of talent relations and one of the guys that did a lot of hiring, firing. And you get to tell that person you don’t know everything you think you know. So that was a good moment for me, but to go back to the deal.”
Mark Henry is currently signed with AEW where he is mostly appointed in a non wrestling role. He had mostly been a WWE star throughout his professional wrestling career. He will always be remembered as a legend of pro wrestling.
