Former WWE star Sasha Banks who is currently going by the name of Mercedes Mone picked up a massive injury during her recent match and she was rushed to hospital as soon as she was down. She was working in Japan recently in the NJPW and also captured the IWGP Women’s Championship.
NJPW recently introduced a new championship called the Strong Women’s Championship and organized a four woman tournament. Sasha Banks participated in this tournament and she also reached the finals of the tournament. She faced Willow Nightingale in the finals of the tournament.

During the match, Banks lost her balance at a point and landed awkwardly on the ground. This was the moment when she picked up the vicious injury but she still finished the match as Willow Nightingale hit two Powerbombs to pin Banks and capture the new Strong Women’s Title.
Reports from PWInsider suggest that the former six times WWE Women’s champion suffered a broken ankle and she would be out of action for a while. This is pretty unfortunate as she was gaining great success after her post WWE career but this injury could affect her Japanese wrestling career.
Sasha Banks Lost To Willow Nightingale In The NJPW Strong Women’s Championship Final
Sasha Banks went on to win the WWE Women’s Championship with Naomi last year at WrestleMania 38 but after a month or so, both of them walked out of WWE and submitted the titles as well. Nobody could ever confirm the actual reason behind their walk out and why they submitted the titles.
There had been lots of speculations on why they decided to leave WWE but nothing could ever be confirmed. There were even strong rumours of the duo potentially returning to WWE soon. Before every WWE PLE, there were rumours that at least either of the two is coming back. Naomi was even rumoured to join the Bloodline.
But they never returned to WWE. Sasha Banks recently made her Japanese wrestling debut as she started working on the NJPW.
