This week’s SmackDown started as the Bloodline came out to the arena. After they are long entrance, Paul Heyman talked about unification of the Tag Team Championships. He explained why it is going to be the biggest night in the history of tag team division.
Did he forget about the Tag Team Championship unification in 2010 where Carlito and Primo defeated John Morrison and The Miz to become the unified Tag Team champions? He also compared Roman Reigns with all the faces of WWE combined.
WWE SmackDown 20.05.2022 Results & Ratings
Match 1 – Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Sami Zayn
The first match of the night was booked for nearly 8 minutes and it was a good match. Maybe they are trying to book Nakamura has a little stronger than he was built. Nakamura pinned Zayn with the Kinshasa.
Happy Corbin came out to the arena. He talked about his assault on Madcap Moss and explained why he deserved it. At the end he broke the Andre the giant Memorial trophy. The segment was boring just like the whole storyline. Corbin did his job perfectly in this segment, it is just the storyline which is not appealing enough. But at least they are doing something.
Match 2 – Gunther defeated Drew Gulak
This was a one minute long squash. What else do you expect? Gunther pinned Gulak with a Power Bomb. After the end of the match, Gunther kept on punishing Gulak with a Boston Crab. Ricochet came out to the rescue. Maybe a United States Championship run is next for Gunther.
Backstage LA Knight made his main roster debut. He had been renamed as Max Dupri. He has also been given a new gimmick. It sounded like he is going to run a stable. It is really fun getting to know that WWE is bringing back the stable based wrestling once again.
Match 3 – Raquel Rodriguez defeated Shotzi
It was a three minutes long match and it was an easy victory for Raquel Rodriguez. We would not say it was a squash but a dominating performance from Rodriguez for sure.
Match 4 – Xavier Woods defeated Butch
Why is this feud still going on? What is remaining to see here? We can beat no one has any interest on this long on going feud. Only Vince McMahon knows why it is still going. Xavier pinned Butch with a roll up.
Michael Cole reminded what Sasha Banks and Naomi did on Monday Night RAW last week. A six pack challenge was supposed to take place, but because of the action of Sasha and Naomi, it had to be changed. They have also announced that the duo has been suspended indefinitely. It is quite strange that they are talking about this incident again and again publicly. At the end they announced that there will be a Women’s Tag Team Championship tournamenttaking place soon.
Match 5 – WWE Undisputed Tag Team Championship – The Usos defeated RK-Bro to become the Undisputed Tag Team champions
Undoubtedly, it was the best match of the night. It was booked for around 10 minutes and it was an action packed fun. At the end Roman Reigns got involved and assisted his cousins towards the victory. Jey Uso pinned Riddle with the Uso Splash. After the match, Bloodline beat down RK-Bro really bad. The Bloodline celebrated together as this week’s SmackDown went of air.
Overall it was not a bad week of Smackdown. It was definitely a better episode than the recent SmackDown episodes. But the question is, what would RAW live with now? There is no World Championship, now there will be no Tag Team Championship either. We seriously hope this stop the brand split soon. We give it 2 stars out of 5.
