Before we move on to the main story we need to know who are the creative writers are WWE Raw and Smackdown. The current lead writer of Raw is Jonathan Baekstorm. Not much could be known about him except he is on WWE creative team since 2013. And the lead writer of the blue brand is Edward Koskey who was the Raw lead writer previously. There are more members on both sides like WWE Hall of Famer Michael Hayes, Dana Warrior, Ranjin Singh, and Ryan Ward.

Since Raw and Smackdown were split into brands again in 2016, Smackdown has always been a more entertaining show than Raw. But on the previous Brand Split in 2002, both shows were simultaneously doing great. No one could pick one single show out of the two.

Smackdown Creative Team Is Doing Better Job Than Raw?

Then what happened this time? Why is Raw suffering from weak bookings and storylines even being the prime show of WWE? Why is Smackdown a more entertaining show than Raw? We have figured out some reasons behind this. Let us have some brief discussions about those reasons.

When Raw and Smackdown had been split into brands in 2016 the biggest issue with Raw remained the booking of the final hour which remained weak constantly. A weekly three-hour show is very difficult to manage, this is one of the biggest reasons why Raw struggled at first and Smackdown kept on doing better because it was a two-hour show.

But finally Raw has managed to deal with the final hour error and they are doing better than their previous days. Of course Raw is a more entertaining show than before but still, the blue brand is a better show overall. If you look at the situation right now, three hours are not an issue for Raw anymore. Then what is the issue right now? What is Smackdown still doing better than Raw?

Smackdown is giving space to all their performers, everybody has something to do at the blue brand, unlike Raw where it is pretty easy to bet buried. Raw decides to push a certain amount of wrestlers and they do not know what to do with the others. One of the biggest examples of this is AJ Styles who was one of the prime wrestlers of the blue side, and at Raw, he is stuck somewhere in a mid-card role. Another reason is no concentration in non-title feuds. If they try to try to focus more on non-title feuds most of the wrestlers of Raw will get to do something meaningful.

At the end of the discussion, we would not say that it is hopeless because Raw has improved quite a bit since 2016, so they will make more improvements in the future surely and the errors we pointed out will be covered up soon.
