We have to see that people are complaining about WWE’s ignorance towards the tag team division of Smackdown as they are concentrating more on the Raw tag team division.
At WrestleMania 33, the Hardy Boys made their return as a part of Monday Night Raw. The night after WrestleMania 33, the Revival made their main roster debut and they also joined the Monday Night Raw roster.
After the debut of Revival, fans are furious. Smackdown fans are seen saying that WWE cares more for Raw. They are intentionally killing movement of Smackdown.
But is it really true? Do the officials are to be blamed for all the lacklustre situation of Smackdown tag team division? We think we should think a carefully before we rush into any decision.
When Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan announced a tournament to determine the first ever Smackdown tag team champions, do you remember how many tag teams were there on the roster? There were seven tag teams. Later, they made a team between Rhyno and Heath Slater.
So tell us, isn’t eight tag teams are enough to make a good division?
And how many tag teams were there in Raw by that time? New day, Enzo and Cass, Anderson and Gallows, Golden Truth and the Shining Stars. Later, they made a team of Cesaro and Sheamus. Still, they are short in terms of number.
Now you may argue that most of the tag teams are jobbers in Smackdown, But why are they, jobbers? Did you ever think about it? Weren’t Ascension highly rated in the NXT? They were NXT tag team champions once. Same goes for the Vaudevillains. Both teams were really cool heels. They also brought back the Headbangers; a successful stable from the Attitude Era.
And what about Heath Slater and Rhyno? Heath Slater was getting really famous among the fans. And Rhyno is an ECW original. What else do you want?
Actually, the Smackdown creative team is to be blamed for this chaos. They had so many tag teams in hand, yet, they could not capitalise on any of them. They could not cash in Heath Slater and Rhyno’s fame, they could not cash in Ascension and Vaudevillains’ NXT works, they could not utilise the Headbangers either. So why should we blame others?
So, the biggest question is, is Smackdown seriously ‘The Land of Opportunity’? Keeping the tag team division of Smackdown in mind, it does not seem so.
