Roman Reigns to become the longest Universal Champion
As noted, Roman Reigns, now going by The Tribal Chief shtick, has been absolutely unstoppable since the December 2019 loss, especially since his return as a heel in August 2020. He has been the Universal Champion for almost 500 days now who is closing in, to become the longest-reigning WWE Universal Champion of all time.
Currently, Brock Lesnar holds the record who was the third Universal Champion and held it for a record 503 days (from Wrestlemania 33 to Summerslam 2018) before dropping it to Roman Reigns, itself.
Interestingly, The Head of the Table will defend the Universal Title against The Beast Incarnate in a rematch in the main event of the WWE Day 1 PPV on January 1, 2022. This appears to be a rubber match between the two but the program is expected to continue beyond the PPV event, per WON. If the champion retains, then he will surpass Lesnar’s previous record in January of next year.
Also, sources have recently informed that WWE Officials want to put Roman Reigns in Brock Lesnar’s spot, where he becomes the next unstoppable force and the man who nearly remains unbeatable. As of now, there’s no update on who will eventually pin Reigns for the title.
