Recently on Friday Night Smackdown, WWE legend and former three times WWE World Champion Rey Mysterio appeared and it looks like he has permanently moved to the blue brand of WWE. His return to SmackDown was really well booked and it was really fun to watch him on the Friday night show.

The reason that WWE gave behind him moving to SmackDown was pretty obvious, he did not want to fight his son and he was getting tired by being beaten down by Judgement Day every week on Monday Night RAW. Therefore he decided to quit WWE, but Triple H wanted him to keep working so he moved him to SmackDown.

Speculating Why Rey Mysterio Moved To Smackdown

Now it was all kayfabe and part of the storyline. If WWE wants to keep the storyline going even on this stage and actively, they could easily bring the Judgement Day to SmackDown and have Rey fighting them all have him getting beaten down. We have already seen the Judgement Day making SmackDown appearances. So this is not the real reason of course.

So what can be the actual reason behind moving Rey Mysterio to SmackDown? We believe WWE will book a father vs son match between Rey and Dominik and this special match will not take place before a WrestleMania 39. But this is only October and WrestleMania is scheduled for April 2023.

So it would be really difficult for WWE to notebook this match and keep the feud going for 6 long months. The only way to keep the hope alive of this match for WrestleMania 39 and keep the storyline going at the same time is to move Rey Mysterio away from the site of the Judgement Day.

That is right, we are pretty sure that WWE is going to organise a father vs son match at WrestleMania 39 between Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio. This match might not be a wrestling classic but this is going to be one of the best storylines in the recent history.

This is not the first time WWE kept a storyline between two wrestlers going for so long and did not book a match between the duo. The last time we saw such an example was the storyline between the Undertaker and Kane that headed towards WrestleMania 14. WWE made us wait for more than six months to witness this long awaited match.

This is also not the first ever father vs son match in WWE history. The last time we saw such a match was at WrestleMania X-Seven where the owner of WWE Vince McMahon battled his own son Shane McMahon.

Such a match is going to take place after 22 long years. So a father vs son match is definitely taking place at WrestleMania 39, only if WWE does not mess it up. Moving Rey Mysterio to SmackDown was the only way to keep him away from Judgement Day until WrestleMania 39. We believe they just wanted to protect this epic Father vs. Son match for WrestleMania 39.
