WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg is strategically used by the WWE creative team for bigger PPV events. He is reportedly returning to action, later this month which could be the final match of his ongoing deal with the company.
As per the reports of Fightful Select, Goldberg is set to return to the storylines who will also be wrestling at the WWE Elimination Chamber PPV in Saudi Arabia. He will compete for a title match on the show which should be ending in a losing effort given that his WWE stint is coming to an end, sooner than later.

The source noted that the current plan is for Goldberg to challenge WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, with the championship on the line. This match was originally scheduled for WrestleMania 36 in 2020. But Reigns denied participating in the PPV due to the COVID-19 pandemic and also went for a hiatus. He would then return to the ring in August 2020 at Summerslam. Since Payback of August 30 of that year, he’s the reigning champion on the Smackdown brand.

Goldberg is almost done with his WWE contract
Goldberg previously revealed that he had one more match on his WWE contract, but he’s also revealed that he’s signed to WWE through 2023. This new report also noted that the belief is his contract will be done after this Elimination Chamber match. Originally, WWE signed him to perform for two matches per year, but some speculations had to be there given that the deal had been modified since he worked in three matches in 2021.
Goldberg has worked a couple of matches per year since his in-ring return in 2019. He lost to The Undertaker at Super Showdown of that year but defeated Dolph Ziggler at SummerSlam 2019. He then defeated then-Universal Champion “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt at Super Showdown 2020 but dropped the Universal Title to Braun Strowman at WrestleMania 36 in 2020,
Goldberg lost in a championship bout to then WWE Champion Drew McIntyre at the 2021 Royal Rumble and then in another one to current WWE Champion Bobby Lashley at SummerSlam 2021. But he defeated Lashley in a No Holds Barred Falls Count Anywhere match at Crown Jewel 2021 in this past October which stands as his last match, for now.
