Sting competed for the first time on AEW Dynamite programming, last night on TNT. The Icon and Darby Allin defeated 2.0 (Matt Lee and Jeff Parker, formerly known as Ever-Rise on WWE NXT) in a Tornado Tag Team Match where all the participants were allowed to compete at the same time.
By the end of the match, Sting was double powerbomb-ed through a table in the ring, but he literally no-sold the move and got right back up to his feet. He then ended up hitting a double scorpion death drop, and then applied the Scorpion Deathlock on both Parker and Lee to get a submission finish in his trademark style.
As noted, this was Sting’s first match on AEW programming while this also marked his first match on TNT TV in 20 years. His previous match took place on the final WCW Nitro on March 26, 2001, where he defeated Ric Flair in a singles contest. Afterward, WCW was taken over by WWE Chairman Vince McMahon. This latest win takes Sting’s AEW record to 3-0.
