If earlier reports are to be believed then SummerSlam 2021 will happen with the audience being present in some capacity. Chances are high that WWE might be back on the road for the annual pay-per-view which is the second biggest event on the calendar following WrestleMania. Now, we have received some more updates that hint at the location of the upcoming show.

There have been some internal talks within WWE about possibly running SummerSlam 2021 in Phoenix, Arizona, or somewhere in Texas, according to PWInsider. These are speculations, at this point. Before stopping touring, WWE visited Texas for the Royal Rumble 2020 at the Minute Maid Park in Houston while Rumble’s previous edition took place from Phoenix.

WWE has not made any official announcement regarding SummerSlam 2021 location, just yet, but they certainly hope to hold shows outdoors in a stadium setting, with fans in the crowd. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they have been forced to stay at the ThunderDome and hold shows in front of the virtual crowd. But the expectation is that the situation will soon be over.

Summerslam 2021 to have live fans in attendance

Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated previously informed that the current plan is to hold SummerSlam 2021 in front of a live crowd. Thus, it would be the first show in the presence of the fans since WrestleMania 37. For the time being the weekly programming will continue to run from the ThunderDome setup.

WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon reportedly wanted to have fans at the 2020 SummerSlam event but that obviously did not happen as the pandemic didn’t slow down, by then. We will have to wait and see if they can make it happen this year after a successful WrestleMania 37 Weekend with live fans in the crowd.

Summerslam 2021: Potential Locations For WWE’s Annual PPV Event 2

SummerSlam 2021 date isn’t fixed but usually, WWE holds the big event in late summer. As of now, WWE’s announcement confirmed that their ThunderDome residency at the Yuengling Center in Tampa at this venue will remain on a closed-set with no fans in attendance.

Tapings from this venue will be wrapped up, Monday, August 2, but there’s no word on where WWE would be heading, next. Since the biggest party of the summer will be held in the second part of August, it’s likely to be held at a new venue. WWE President & Chief Revenue Officer Nick Khan also hinted that WWE expects to make big announcements regarding this matter, soon.
