At Summerslam 2022, Liv Morgan will put her newly won Smackdown Women’s Title on the line against Ronda Rousey, as confirmed by the WWE. The announcement came after the two shared the same ring for a confrontation alongside Natalya and things went physical.

To begin with the builds of Summerslam 2022 on Smackdown, we should revisit this past Saturday night’s WWE Money In The Bank 2022 premium live event where Ronda Rousey defeated Natalya with the arm-bar submission to retain her SmackDown Women’s Championship. This marked her third title defense since winning it Wrestlemania Backlash and she passed through this rigorous test.

Ronda apparently suffered a kayfabe knee injury during that match which allowed the 2022 Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match winner to run out to the ring with his briefcase and cashed it successfully on her to become the new Smackdown Women’s Champion. With this, Morgan also became the only third woman in WWE history to pin the former UFC Bantamweight Champion.

Then on Smackdown, Liv Morgan came out to celebrate her SmackDown Women’s Championship win from MITB and possibly issue a challenge for Summerslam 2022. Michael Cole interviewed her in the ring to reflect on her journey and reminded her that Natalya hurt Ronda Rousey’s knee, and Liv just took advantage of it by winning the title.

The same was reminded by Natalya who interrupted the session. Eventually, Ronda came out and a brawl broke out in the ring, which led to a Money In The Bank rematch between Ronda and Natalya. In it, Ronda defeated Natalya by making Natalya tap out to the Ankle Lock submission. After this win, the Summerslam 2022 title match lineup was officially revealed.
