ToggleRoman Reigns is currently the face of WWE and he had been undefeated as WWE Universal Champion for three long years. For the last three years, he managed to retain his title in all of his title defences, including three big WrestleMania events,
Every year, fans started to speculate on who could be the potential opponent of Roman Reigns for WrestleMania. One name that comes out as the potential opponent of Roman Reigns remains the same almost every year and that is the WWE and Hollywood megastar The Rock.

Surprising Twist: Huge Star Reportedly In Talks To Wrestle Roman Reigns At WrestleMania 40
But this year the story is a little different. The Rock is still not rumoured to be facing Roman at WrestleMania 40. Instead, a new name has been raised to share spotlights with the Tribal Chief. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter confirmed that WWE is planning to promote Cody Rhodes as the potential opponent of The Tribal Chief for WrestleMania 40;
“As far as long-term goes, Reigns vs. Rhodes is the long-term direction for the ultimate destination match. WrestleMania is a strong possibility but this far out there are so many things that can happen.” Dave Meltzer said recently.

Roman Reigns Might Face Cody Rhodes At WrestleMania 40
This might sound a little surprising to a lot of fans this would be pretty much logical if it actually happens. At WrestleMania 39, Roman Reigns defended his Undisputed Universal Heavyweight Championship and successfully retained the title. Even though the victory was not clean.
Cody Rhodes did not get the opportunity to face Roman in a rematch as he got involved in a feud with Brock Lesnar right not he is still involved in it. Plus, WWE Draft took place recently as Roman remained a part of Smackdown as Cody Rhodes was drafted to Monday Night RAW.

The roads for the two biggest names of WWE had been divided. But there are still plenty of time to get Cody into this big WrestleMania rematch. Having Cody Rhodes win the Royal Rumble match for the second time would be an excellent way to promote him for WrestleMania 40. But there is still plenty of time and we all know plans keep on changing in WWE.
