The IIconics were amongst those names who were released from their WWE contracts, earlier this year due to COVID-19 related budget cuts. Since these two were bright talents, the release of the former champion duo shocked the professional wrestling industry. Over the past few months, there have been speculations on what could be next for them.

Now the former WWE superstars have announced that they are coming back to action in due course. The IIconics are officially going by the name of The IInspiration on the indie scene. Jessica McKay (fka Billie Kay) and Cassie Lee (fka Peyton Royce) announced on Twitter that The IInspiration Tour will be coming soon.

The IIconics previously had green card issues

It’s been rumored that there might be interest in Impact Wrestling or AEW to sign The IIconics. Lee’s husband Shawn Spears fka Tye Dillinger works in AEW and hence the company could be interested in at least, Lee. However, by the latest announcement, it appears that the former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions are likely to function as a team.

McKay and Lee had also filed to trademark “The IInspiration” back in June while they have also launched the “Off Her Chops” comedy/variety podcast this past summer while spending their 90-day no-compete clause with the WWE.

The IIconics were both signed by WWE in April 2015 who spent almost six years with the company before getting released on April 15 of this year, along with other COVID-19 budget cuts. They have been free agents since their 90-day non-compete clauses expired on July 14.

Back in late June, The IIconics appeared on Oral Sessions Podcast hosted by Renee Paquette to reveal that they have been stuck in a very difficult and legal position when it comes to their green card status in the United States. This was the reason they had to sit out of action for some time. In the meantime, they kept in touch with the fans via their own podcast.
