WWE Raw star and a former two times WWE World Champion The Miz who is also a former eight times WWE Intercontinental Champion recently talked about Roman Reigns and shared praise for him. He said The Tribal Chief is compelling every time he was on the television.
WWE was trying to build Roman Reigns as the face of the promotion for quite a long time. When he first made his main roster debut, Vince McMahon saw the next big thing in him. After his Royal Rumble 2014 performance, when he beat the record of Kane of the most elimination in a single Royal Rumble match, it was quite clear that WWE was trying to build him as the next big thing of the promotion.
He is definitely the face of WWE right now. But his journey was not very easy. WWE made a big mistake by overpushing him at his early days, which fans could not digest. He got massive heat from the fans and it was really difficult for WWE in the process to build him as the next face of the promotion. No matter how good he did in the ring, nobody was ready to accept him.
But since he made his return in 2019 after leukaemia, the fans were ready to give him a chance, and he capitalised it amazingly. Finally, WWE managed to build him as the face of the promotion. In 2020 he won the WWE Universal championship and since then he had been undefeated and never drop to the title. He is going through one of the most iconic world title rain in WWE history right now and he is, of course, one of the biggest attractions of WWE.
At WrestleMania 39, The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes challenged Roman Reigns for the WWE Undisputed Universal Heavyweight Championship after winning the men’s Royal Rumble match. Once again Roman mastered his opponent at the main event of WrestleMania, and this was his third consecutive WrestleMania main event win.
The Miz who is also a former eight times WWE Intercontinental Champion recently spoke to WrestleZone where he talked about Roman Reigns and shared praise for him. He said The Tribal Chief is compelling every time he was on the television. He said;
“He’s compelling television every time he is on that television. You want to see what’s going to happen next. You love the story, you love the character, he’s a main-event, bonafide Superstar. There’s no doubt in my mind, but I think everyone has a choice on their MVP as of right now. People can make a claim for Sami Zayn, I think people can make a claim for The Usos. I think there’s a lot of talent that could be MVP. Dominik [Mysterio] has been on fire as of late.
“I should have gotten the NBA MVP this year for the Celebrity [All-Star] game and the reason is I hit a four-point shot. Yes, in celebrity games we have four-point shots. We were down by three and there was 0.7 seconds left. I got it off maybe a little late, maybe one second it took me.
“But still, when it went in it was a half-court shot. I should’ve gotten it. And then — I know, I did miss it by maybe [one-tenth] of a second. But in that game, we had six people on the court, it’s 6-on-6.
“We had Richard Jefferson be a referee, a commentator and then a player, like you couldn’t just budge the rules just a little bit to make me the MVP of not only the NBA, but MLB. It could have been incredible. It could have been an incredible moment, and then I’m the MVP of WWE, so it’s like [I’d be] the MVP of a little bit of everything.”
