The deadly MMA duo Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey would be facing each other at SummerSlam this Saturday and this is definitely going to be a mega match. This is the first time these two big names are going head to head in WWE and without any doubt this match is one of the biggest attraction of SummerSlam this year.
Last year these two former MMA stars teamed up to make a deadly Tag Team. Recently they won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships and the duo was pretty much unstoppable as a team. They were not only beating their opponents, but literally destroying everyone who was challenging them. Slowly it was turning out to be one of the best tag teams in women’s wrestling.

At Money in the Bank they defended the WWE to Women’s Tag Team Championship against the team of Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan. They were the favorites to retain the title and they were absolutely destroying their opponents. But at the end of the match, Shayna Baszler shocked the entire world when she betrayed Ronda Rousey.
A match between the duo got confirmed a number of weeks after this betrayal. The Mega match got official for SummerSlam and there is a lot of anticipation about this match. Shayna recently talked about this upcoming big match when she spoke to The New York Post, here are some highlights of what the former three times WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion had to say;
Ronda Rousey Would Meet Shayna Baszler At Summerslam
On their match at SummerSlam: “Once all eyes are on me, then it’s a matter of solidifying my spot as that person that if I can beat up Ronda Rousey then who can’t I beat up. You look at Ronda, even the losses she has had [in WWE] they have been a little bit of people capitalized on a mistake or a fluke type of thing. I want to beat Ronda Rousey definitively in a fight so there is no question when my music hits (that) someone is getting hurt, win or lose.”
On stepping out from under Rousey’s shadow: “I think you could see the pattern since we have been alongside each other in WWE, I was forever gonna be the sidekick, again. I gave her that in MMA, but I think when it comes to wrestling it’s my thing now. I don’t think there was anyone who was gonna beat me and Ronda [for years] when we were on the same time as a tag team. I just came to this slow realization that I’m the sidekick. This is the thing I’ve always dreamed of and worked for and I’m the sidekick?”
The match was presented as a big deal so far and this week on Raw WWE produced an amazing video package to promote this huge match. It was presented as a regular match at first but later a stipulation had been added and this would now be an MMA rules match. Most of the fans are rooting for Shayna in this match. We are hoping to see an excellent outcome at SummerSlam.
