WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart was the first one to reveal that The Rock had to face some backstage politics while climbing his way to the top of the WWE. It was during the Confessions Of The Hitman podcast that the old-school legend revealed that idea. It was noted during the conversation how The Great One was a subject to backstage bullying from members of The Kliq and several other wrestlers.
The veteran wrestler also mentioned how they “tried to break The Rock” and got him to quit the pro wrestling business. It seems the story is true to some extent as the man in concern himself acknowledged the same.

While remembering his first-ever meeting with The Undertaker on WWE Network’s Meeting The Undertaker special, The Rock spoke about the theory of backstage bullying in the WWE. Some members of the locker room didn’t want him to capture his first WWE Championship at Survivor Series 1998. He just started to be making the move towards the top of the card which seemed unbearable to some of the WWE Superstars.

“This is stuff I’ve never shared but I do want to share it because it’s important,” said The Rock. “When I started to make the move [up the card] and word got around that the office was priming me for a WWE Championship run, there were a handful of guys in the business at the time who did everything they could to stop that run from happening.”
The Great One then added how The Undertaker has always supported him during that run. Being a pioneer, The Phenome obviously foresaw that this kid was having a great future lying ahead of him.
“He was always so steady, telling me, ‘Don’t worry about it, kid. Just go out and keep doing your thing. You have a hell of a future.'”
The Rock eventually reached the top of the wrestling business just in his mid-20s which was apparently too quick as per The Undertaker. He revealed that he would constantly get questions about his age from Taker. Since it was too early age for young rocky to secure success, he felt that someday around his 30s, his body would feel sore.
“He would always ask me, ‘you hit 30 yet?’ Every time, I would said ‘no’ and he’d be like, ‘oh, s**t. One day, you will and your bones will be sore.'”
“I always appreciated that about Mark. It spoke volumes about his integrity and love for the business. And I’ll always be grateful for that,” he added. (Quotes courtesy Wrestling Inc)
Interestingly though, The Rock never name-dropped The Kliq and its members as the one who tried to drag him back while he just started to achieve success. Triple H was also very close to that faction which indirectly hinted that these two could’ve had shared some kind of heat. However, they did deliver memorable feuds in their prime and it’s believed the hatchets were buried over the times.
