The Rock has not competed in the WWE since WrestleMania 32 where he has a six-second match against Erick Rowan of The Wyatt Family. Since that’s not counted as an actual match, his final full-fledged involvement inside the ring took place all the way back in 2013 at Wrestlemania 29. On that night, he lost the WWE Championship to John Cena in a mega fight and henceforth withdrew his name from in-ring action.

Since then, The Rock has been very busy with his Hollywood schedule as fans could only wonder whether they could ever see him back in a WWE ring, once again. There are reports claiming that perhaps WWE will book him in a match against Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 38 in Dallas, Texas. To provide a buildup to that match, he’s also expected to make an appearance at Survivor Series 2021.

But in the meantime, The Rock continues to wrap up the shooting schedule for his upcoming films. Till now, he’s been part of a number of successful franchises in her movie career but San Andreas can be counted out from that list. A sequel to that 2015 disaster film is not happening.

The Rock starrer San Andreas 2 isn’t in the pipeline

Hollywood Star Alexandra Daddario, who starred alongside The Rock in the movie, recently spoke to Collider. She was originally out to promoter herself for the Die in a Gunfight movie, but they also asked her about the possibility of getting another San Andreas experience. The sequel was in development by Warner Bros for a time, but those plans were scrapped with time per Daddario’s below comments,

“It was mentioned to me several years ago when I went in to New Line. I don’t think that the exec that I was speaking to is there anymore. But they had a draft written. As far as I know, it’s not happening. It’s been a long time. I don’t think so. I think it was in development at one point, I should say. But that happens in Hollywood all the time.”

Despite weak reviews, San Andreas was a commercial success as the film made $474 million after being made on a $110 million budget. So, The Rock did deliver another financial success. But that monetary accomplishment will not force the makers to come up with a second film to continue the franchise.
