Professional wrestling legend and WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker who is a former seven times WWE world champion recently talked about picking up an orbital injury while facing Mabel in 1995 and how he was forced to wear a mask due to the mentioned injury.
Mabel who has played different characters in WWE such as Viscera and Big Daddy V is said to be one of the most unsafe wrestlers to work with in the ring. A lot of wrestlers complained about him for being quite unsafe. In his early days he injured the Undertaker which forced him to wear a mask on the face.
The Undertaker Remembers His Orbital Injury From 1995
But everybody knows that Vince McMahon had crazy love for big men in wrestling. Mabel aka Viscera might have been pretty answer in the ring but he was big and looked pretty strong. He went on to win the King of the Ring tournament of 1995, back when the tournament was really valuable. It was a big accomplishment.
During the Attitude Era he was given a complete gimmick change after he joined the Ministry of Darkness and he started to be addressed as Viscera. He kept on working throughout the Attitude Era and he was portrayed mostly as a monster heel. He did not get to win any title but he kept on receiving strong build.
He worked on the Ruthless Aggression Era of WWE as well when he was given a similar gimmick to the Sexual Chocolate of Mark Henry. During the resurrection of the ECW, he was given another giving change and he started to be known as Big Daddy V. Unfortunately, in 2014, he passed away.
The Undertaker who is a former seven times WWE world champion recently spoke to Hawk & Wolf where he talked about picking up an orbital injury while facing Mabel in 1995 and how he was forced to wear a mask due to the mentioned injury. He said;
“The doctor goes, ‘you’ve lost about 50 percent of your orbital floor.’ ‘Excuse me?’ ‘You need to go home and find an ophthalmologist and a surgeon.’ Come to find out, I ended up losing 90% of my orbital floor.
“My optic nerve is setting on a jagged piece of bone. If I got hit on the right side of my head again, there is a good chance I would have lost my eye. Took two surgeons, they go in, take out all the bone fragments, and they put in a fake one.
Rey Mysterio, tiny guy, sweetheart of a guy, he ended up jumping off the top rope, and his ass was supposed to hit me in the chest, but it hit me right in the face. It was a bony ass. Bony ass, right on the bridge of my nose.
“He lands, I have all of his weight on my head, I hit the mat and blew out the other one. I broke my nose and I was concussed. It’s hard being injured by an anus. My nose was broke, I fixed my nose right there, I just squeezed my nose back.The second one, to this day and it’s probably been 15 years, I still have double vision.”
