Summerslam, as they say ‘The Biggest Party of the Summer’ is being celebrated since the year 1988. Next month on August 18, the 26th annual Summerslam is going to take place in the Staples center in Los Angeles, California. The main event of the event has been already announced. 10. The Rock vs. Brock Lesnar – WWE undisputed championship (2002) : The match was really awesome! The people vs. the next big thing for the undisputed WWE championship. The Rock earned the championship after he defeated Kurt Angle and the Undertaker in a triple threat match in the event of Vengeance. He faced the man who won King of the Ring in that same year for the championship. The match continued for 16 minutes, and Brock Lesnar won the championship after he pinned the Rock with an F-5.
9. The Rock vs. Triple H vs. Kurt Angle – WWF championship (2000) : The triple threat match had a great love triangle storyline on its back with Triple H, Stephanie McMahon and Kurt Angle. Two men who were involved in the storyline competed against the WWF champion The Rock for the championship. Kurt Angle was injured during the match and was taken off, but he came back to continue. At the end, The Rock retained the championship after he pinned Triple H with a Rock Bottom.
8. Undertaker vs. Bret Hart – WWF championship (1997) : One of the greatest matches of the year 1997 was between Undertaker and the excellence of execution. Shawn Michaels was the special guest referee of this match. It was a superb match where the WWF champion Undertaker started to dominate the match and Bret Hart made the strategy to damage the Undertaker’s left leg. During the match, Bret spat in the face of HBK and he attempted to hit Bret with a steel chair but he accidentally hit Undertaker. Bret took the advantage of the situation and pinned Undertaker to become new champion.
7. Jeff Hardy vs. CM Punk – TLC Match – World Heavyweight championship (2009) : The decisive match between CM Punk – Jeff Hardy feud in 2009. The feud started in Extreme Rules PPV when CM Punk cashed in his first money in the bank over Jeff Hardy after Hardy’s victory over Edge. The feud continued until Summerslam where CM Punk finally captured the championship after he defeated Jeff Hardy in a superb TLC match.
6. Hulk Hogan vs. Shawn Michaels (2005) : Who can forget this match? The match was organized while Shawn Michaels’ small and only heel-run after his return in 2002. The small feud between Hulk Hogan and Shawn Michaels started after Michaels ditched after their victory over Muhammad Hassan and Daivari. WWE built this match as ‘Icon vs. Legend’. Hulk Hogan won this match and they buried the hatchet (kayfabe) after the match.
