Bobby Lashley and Roman Reigns were the top two heels over on Raw and Smackdown in 2021, consecutively. It appears one of them will go in a different direction in the new year. The top heel act played by Lashley is likely coming to an end, considering how he earned his way to the WWE Championship match at Day 1 PPV.
Bobby Lashley won the WWE Championship after defeating The Miz on Monday Night RAW back in March and since then, he was booked as a very dominant heel force on Raw. With Vince McMahon backing him up, he ended up becoming one of the top main-eventers on the Raw brand. After enjoying a reign more than 150 days, he lost that title to Big E, back in September.
WWE Smackdown Star Toni Storm Reportedly Released; Backstage Updates
The All-Mighty character will continue to have his journey as a dominant force but as a babyface figure. Bobby Lashley defeated Big E, Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens in three separate singles matches on a recent episode of RAW to earn a WWE Championship match, something which would be done by the babyfaces.
A week later, Bobby Lashley got attacked by Rollins and Owens, and Big E came out to make the save for him, and E is an established babyface figure on Raw. Then after the main event tag team match, Rollins and Owens once again attacked Lashley which once again pointed out that the latter one was moving in a new direction.

Bobby Lashley’s on-screen character going for a change
According to reports from Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is planning a full-fledged babyface turn for the former WWE Champion. The video package of him earning the title shot at WWE Day 1 also projected the same,
“If you watch the show you certainly get the impression that Bobby Lashley is going babyface. They played a total babyface video package for him at the pay-per-view, yeah. So, I mean it’s been feeling like that’s been in the cards and then he has to beat three guys to get in [to the Day 1 WWE Title match], I mean that’s a total babyface move.” (transcription by Ringside News)
With another Wrestlemania season approaching closer, Bobby Lashley is back on the title picture and this should make things interesting on the red brand. 2021 was definitely the best year of his pro-wrestling career as he was able to win the WWE Championship for the first time in his career. Now, he would certainly like to replicate that strong run in 2022.
