Professional wrestling legend and the current WWE Head of Creative Triple H who is a former 14 times WWE World Champion recently talked about the current WWE United States Champion Austin Theory and said that the 25 year old could be the biggest star in the wrestling business today.
Theory was mostly a jobber back in his time during the NXT. When he was drafted to Monday Night RAW last year, nobody expected a huge poor for him on the main roster. But WWE had big plans for him after he was drafted into the main roster. At a point It looked like he is being built as the next face of WWE.
Triple H Thinks Austin Theory Can Be The Biggest Star In The Wrestling Business
He had been portrait as the protégé of Vince McMahon who himself took the responsibility of pushing him as a potential main event star. In a very short amount of time he achieved a lot in WWE. At first he won the WWE United States Championship, then he went to win the WWE Money in the Bank contract, he even had his own match at WrestleMania 38.
But recently Vince McMahon announce his retirement from his role in WWE. It seemed uncertain if he would be pushed on the same way by the new Head of Creative Triple H. The scare got real when he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on United States Champion Seth Rollins and failed.
WWE faced massive criticism for burying Money in the Bank and everybody also feared that Theory might be buried as well. But on the very next week he came back stronger and went through a total gimmick change. After his United States title win at WWE Survivor Series it was pretty clear that WWE did not give up on his push at all, and the way he is being booked recently, it is quite clear that WWE has really big vision for the youngster.
Triple H who is a former 14 times WWE World Champion recently spoke to ESPN where he talked about the current WWE United States Champion Austin Theory and said that the 25 year old could be the biggest star in the wrestling business today. He said;
“It’s a nuanced feeling… once you see this guy’s a great athlete, I’m looking for their personality, their charisma. Austin Theory has it, and then some. Do I think he has all the potential to be one of the biggest stars in the business? Absolutely.
“What determines that? A lot of that is up to him now. You give him little bits of things here and there and he’s improving his game and he’s smart. He listens to the crowd, he listens to the people. He sees all the stuff that’s going on, and he adapts his game on a regular basis.
“It’s a little bit hard to just refer to him as Theory, and even to me, it was a little awkward when he was announced, like ‘Theory!’ It’s weird. Is that Stone Cold Steve Austin coming in? Is it confusing for fans? I’m of the opinion that if you don’t know the difference between Austin Theory and Stone Cold Steve Austin, there’s already a problem, right? So, we’re fixing the wrong end of the problem.”
