Former WWE star Stevie Richards recently remembered his early days in WWE during the Attitude Era and he explained how Kane saved his WWE career. He was mostly remembered for his time as the leader of the Right of Censor faction. He had always been treated as a lower mid card and he had been one of the most entertaining mid cards in WWE history.

During the invasion storyline of WWE, Stevie Richards became a member of team Alliance and he tried to help the WCW Tag Team Kronik to master The Brother of Destruction in a feud during the time. It was one of the worst received feuds of the year but Brothers of Destruction was really fun to watch during the time.

Under the Shadow Of Destruction: Former WWE Star’s Incredible Tale Of Redemption Via Kane’s Chokeslam

The Brothers of Destruction defeated DDP and Chris Kanyon at Summerslam 2001 to win the WCW Tag Team Championship. At the very next PPV event which was Unforgiven, Kronik challenged the champions and they lost against the unstoppable brothers of WWE.

Stevie Richards accompanied Kronik in this match and at the end of the match, he received a huge Chokeslam from Kane. Speaking with “Wrestling Shoot Interviews,” Richards explained how this Chokeslam from the Big Red Machine saved his WWE career. Here is what he said in this topic;

Stevie Richards Remembers Receiving Chokeslam From Kane

“In the end, we called that audible, and I got in the ring. I backed up to Glenn, and I did the old reaching behind and ‘Oh my God, is he still behind me?’ Turned around, beg off, take the chokeslam, half decent, take a bump. I think that there might have saved my job in a way because I got in the ring and called that audible. They were cool with it that we kind of saved a little bit of the match with that.”

Richards played key role in the lower mid card division of WWE throughout his time in the promotion. During the Attitude Era, he was a valuable name in the famous Hardcore division as he won the Hardcore Championship 21 times. He also won the European Championship once which also was a lower mid card title.

But after the Ruthless Aggression Era started, WWE omitted their lower mid card titles and Richards somehow became irrelevant in the promotion. Still, he survived in WWE till 2008 which was a big accomplishment.
