Ever since Cody Rhodes returned to WWE last year at WrestleMania 38, he had been treated as a concrete main event star. This is the first time in his professional wrestling career that he received a main event star status and so far he has managed it excellently. He had been one of the most over stars of WWE since last year.
Upon returning to WWE last year, he had a mega feud with the five times WWE World Champion Seth Rollins. They had a total of three matches and Cody defeated Seth in all three occasions. But it was pretty unfortunate that he picked up an injury prior to Hell in a Cell and it sidelined him from action for 8 long months.

He returned directly at Royal Rumble as a competitor in the men’s Royal Rumble match. He went on to win the Royal Rumble match and got the opportunity to challenge Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39 for the WWE Undisputed Universal Heavyweight Championship. The fans were eagerly waiting to see this mega match.
Cody was a legit choice who could dethrone Roman Reigns after 3 years. But unfortunately he failed to win at WrestleMania 39 and Roman Reigns managed to retain his title once again. Cody Rhodes recently talked about his defeat at WrestleMania 39 and explained why he was surprised to see the reaction of the fans. Below are some highlights of what he told “SI Media,”

On being surprised by how upset fans were with his loss: “I was surprised at how pissed people were. A lot of managerial people in the company reached out to me, checking on me, and also reached out to me to let me know, ‘don’t go online. Don’t go online.’”
On not even thinking about the online reaction: “I didn’t even think to go. It’s such an incredibly busy week, there are so many emotions in that experience, I have my family with me, I lost in front of them, which is another level of embarrassment. I didn’t even think to go online. Just the fact that they were preparing me or battening down the hatches. ‘This is shaky, people are really frustrated,’ that surprised me. That surprised me a lot.”
Cody Rhodes is currently involved in a big feud with Brock Lesnar and it is rumoured to end by Summerslam where the duo would face each other for the third time. Cody might go on to have a new feud. It is also rumoured that Cody might have a rematch against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40.
