Christian made a shocking Royal Rumble return this past Sunday night that left the professional wrestling fans into a frenzy. This witnessed an emotional reunion with Hall of Famer Edge during the match. It took us back to the days of ‘flash photography’ and perhaps more such segments could be in-store in the future.
The Rumble entrance of Christian was reportedly not just a one-off appearance. He is scheduled to make more future WWE TV appearances, according to PWInsider. As of this week, he was not booked for Monday Night RAW of Friday Night Smackdown. But the primary belief is that the former 2-time World Heavyweight Champion will be working a part-time schedule in the WWE.
WWE To Bring Wrestlemania 38 Back To One-Day Format?
The story building around backstage after Sunday’s pay-per-view was that Christian was ‘officially yet secretly medically cleared’ just a week before the 2021 edition of Rumble. As per the usual rules of WWE, he had to give a visit to doctors in Pittsburgh to get cleared. Only a very few people within WWE were aware of his return before he started warming up on Sunday.
F4WOnline also supported the theory of Christian getting secretly cleared for a return to action. Obviously, the earlier belief was that his in-ring career was over after an absence for multiple years. But now the Captain Charisma is expected to wrestle more often.
“Christian was secretly cleared last week. He is expected to wrestle more often. As far as how much is uncertain but that was not a one-time-and gone thing.”
Christian had a memorable Rumble experience
Christian entered the 30-Man Royal Rumble Match at number 24 and was the number 27 elimination by The Messiah Seth Rollins. He lasted 18 minutes and 12 seconds in the match and had two eliminations – Braun Strowman (with WWE Hall of Famer and winner Edge) and the WWE United States Champion Bobby Lashley (with Riddle, Daniel Bryan, WWE Intercontinental Champion Big E).
Christian did put up an impressive performance in the Royal Rumble match who might just be willing to follow it up with more such appearances. After the conclusion of the match, he took part in a backstage interview to answer what’s next for him. He never confirmed what he plans on doing, next but rather intended to stick to that ‘one more match’, as promised.
“What’s next for me? All I ever promised was one more match. That could be it!”
