On this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, United States Champion Sheamus pulled off double duties by competing in back-to-back matches. To his dismay, he not only lost both of those non-title matches but also ended up hurting himself, badly. Although, many consider that the injury occurred as a result of some serious botches by his second opponent.
Sheamus first lost to Ricochet, thanks to the interferences from Humberto Carrillo. Then he competed in the second match against Carillo, took a stiff kick from him during the second match, and was bleeding heavily from the nose at one point during the match. Ricochet interfered ensuring that Carillo wins this match via a roll-up.
WWE Universe was concerned about Sheamus’ status as there was a lot of blood rolled over from his nose during the match. It was speculated during RAW that he might have suffered a broken nose, but it wasn’t confirmed by WWE, at that point. In an update to the situation, PWInsider reported that the Raw Superstar did suffer a broken nose. Regarding his in-ring status, it was noted that he will only miss time in the ring if WWE Officials require him to do so and take some rest.

Sheamus won’t vacate US Title due to injury
In a follow-up to the situation, Sheamus took to Twitter and shared another rough-looking selfie that focused on his busted nose and a shiner that Carrillo caused him during the match. The US Champion noted that there’s no way he’s going to vacate his title.
“..sorry NOT VACATING. #USChampion,” he wrote as the caption to the selfie.

This is indeed some good news as we can assume that the former world champion won’t be needing lengthy time-off due to the injury. Raw is already lacking big star powers and missing a veteran mid-carder like him could have been fatal.
Sheamus won the US Championship from Riddle, earlier this year. He successfully defended the belt against Ricochet in a singles contest at the Wrestlemania Backlash kick-off show, last month. The feud continued on Raw in the past few weeks with Humberto Carrillo getting added to it. If the champion is cleared to be in action, it seems Carillo would be next in line for a title shot.
