The announcement of Vince McMahon kicking things off for this week’s WWE Smackdown garnered some big-time attention. But he was a man of just a few words during this latest TV appearance. While many believed that he will comment on the recent controversy surrounding him, nothing much happened during the FOX broadcast.

“I’m here to simply remind you about the four words that we just saw in what we like to call, the WWE signature. Those four words are Then, Now, Forever and the most important one, Together. Welcome to SmackDown!” Vince McMahon stated during the opening segment of the June 17 episode of Friday Night Smackdown.

Update On Vince McMahon Stepping Down From WWE CEO Position 1

Heading into the show, 76-year-old genius stepped down as Chairman and CEO of the WWE following the allegations that he made some hush-money payments to a former employee of the company to cover up some extra-marital affairs also involving WWE Head of Talent Relations, John Laurinaitis, a matter that is currently being investigated.

Vince McMahon’s daughter, Stephanie McMahon was announced to be the interim Chairwoman and CEO of the WWE, which comes just weeks after she announced a leave of absence from her duties as WWE Chief Brand Officer (CBO).

Vince McMahon was in great mood on Smackdown

The ongoing investigation has reportedly uncovered other non-disclosure agreements by former WWE employees. There’s no update on how further the matter has progressed and nor did the total payment amount been determined by the board. A source noted that it was in the millions.

Following this, Vince McMahon’s arrival on Smackdown was meaningful by all means as fans expected a lot from him. But then again, The Boss was in no mood to address the controversy but he was apparently trying to amp things up for the show.

According to an additional report from PWInsider, Vince McMahon was in a “great mood” backstage on Smackdown that took place in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was reportedly joking around, despite the allegations against him. There had been a rumor that he would also address superstars and employees but that didn’t take place on June 17.

Update On Vince McMahon Stepping Down From WWE CEO Position 2

It should be noted that while Vince McMahon has stepped down from his corporate duties his creative duties for the WWE remain intact. Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns successfully defended his title against Riddle and thereafter Brock Lesnar was named the next opponent for Reigns, an idea that was produced by McMahon, himself.
