WWE is not very keen on working with other professional wrestling promotions unless they want to take over that brand, entirely. However, things changed as Vince McMahon isn’t the only one who is overseeing things for the company, as of later.

WWE President and Chief Revenue Officer Nick Khan, was previously mentioned for a possible working relationship with New Japan Pro Wrestling. According to an update from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, he was not the first one in the company to bring that up.

A few days ago, reports were out claiming that Khan has been in talks with NJPW officials about WWE possibly becoming the official American partner for the Japanese organization. These talks reportedly happened back to late March or early April, earlier to Wrestlemania 37. It was later revealed that Daniel Bryan is involved in these talks who could possibly be working some NJPW dates, per the deal. Thus, he appeared to be a big topic of discussion in the negotiations.

In more update, The Observer now reports that people close to the negotiations say that while this was not Khan’s idea at first, he has been ‘WWE’s point man in the talks as of late.’ There are men who believe that Khan was recommended to the Chairman and CEO of the company, Vince McMahon to pursue the potential deal.

Updates On WWE-NJPW Collaboration And Daniel Bryan’s Involvement 2

It was noted that the deal will be exercised more for the NXT brand, and not a situation where top NJPW stars would be brought to WWE to lose to top stars, here or the vice-versa. This new report also mentions that Daniel Bryan was ‘absolutely part of the early talks between the two companies but that has not been the case as of late. One source noted that Bryan wasn’t potentially involved in any recent discussions.

It was also noted that NJPW officials will not agree to any deal unless they feel like it’d be beneficial to them. WWE has tried to talk to them in the past and that led them to nowhere. But then again, Nick Khan is said to be appearing with a difference-maker in recent times. The talks could get as far as WWE had in the past to purchase Pro Wrestling NOAH, Stardom, Big Japan, Dragon Gate, and AAA. On all of those occasions, no deal was finalized, after all.
