WWE has been trying to bring in new faces for the Indian fanbase over the past few years and Veer Mahaan could be one of them. After spending time in a faction on NXT and Raw, the Indian-origin name is likely to receive a singles push upon his arrival on this new era of Monday Night Raw following the Draft 2021.
The second post-Draft “coming soon” teaser vignette for the superstar aired during this week’s RAW that aired from the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island. It was revealed in this video teaser that he is now going by the name of Veer Mahaan.
There is no update why WWE added a surname to the original name to make a modification to it. However, in Hindi, the word Mahaan stands for someone “great” or sometimes “great man”. It is also the name of a popular action drama movie in India.

Veer to start singles career in WWE
It should be noted that this is the third name change for Veer Mahaan in his short WWE career. When he debuted in WWE in 2018, he was a part of the tag team named Indus Sher while his name was Rinku Singh. After his debut on the main roster, he joined forces with Jinder Mahal and Shanky and his name was changed to Veer.
Veer Mahaan hails from India but he was brought up in the United States for the most part of his life. He is also known as former MLB player Rinku Singh of the “Million Dollar Arm” movie and reality TV show. He was signed by WWE in January 2018 after spending a season with the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball organization.

As noted above, he was known as Rinku of the WWE NXT tag team Indus Sher, but that team was broken up before they could make an impact. He was then called to the main roster in May of this year to work as Veer, along with Shanky and Jinder Mahal. The stable was split up in the 2021 WWE Draft as Mahal and Shanky were sent to SmackDown, while Veer Mahaan is expected to start a solo career on RAW as he stays on the red brand.
Veer Mahaan already has three singles wins in his WWE career after being called up with Shanky earlier in the summer. The three straight singles wins happened as follows – he defeated Drew Gulak on the July 1 edition of Main Event, defeated Jeff Hardy on the July 8 edition of Main Event, and defeated Drew McIntyre via DQ on the July 26 RAW.
