Wade Barrett has recently returned to WWE recently to work at the NXT commentary booth. He called out the actions, last week and was back to call the NXT Super Tuesday episode, this week as the regular NXT commentator Mauro Ranallo is out dealing with a family issue at the moment. WWE has already issued his departure from the company.
With that being said it might be time that we get used to seeing Wade Barrett in a permanent role at NXT. According to multiple sources, WWE and Barrett are currently negotiating on a new contract deal that would see him returning to the promotion, full-time. However, it may not be for an in-ring stint as this deal would be for a commentator role, only.

Wade Barrett Having A Contract Negotiation With WWE For Full-Time Return
In the meantime, Wade Barrett has been added to the WWE NXT Superstar Profile from the alumni section. Shortly after the leader of The Nexus made his WWE return as a commentator on NXT, his former stablemate of the faction, Bray Wyatt aka Husky Harris, commented on this. Through a post on Twitter, Wyatt asked whether he’s here to regroup his band members.
“Yowie wowie, brother. Only if I’m still allowed to be the leader. #WeAreOne,” Wade Barrett replied with a Tweet.

It’s believed that Wade Barrett has no intention to make his return to in-ring competition. He didn’t pursue a wrestling career ever since departing WWE, a few years ago. So he might not be in wrestling shape, at all.
The 40-year-old Superstar was with WWE from 2006 through 2016. He was frustrated with his WWE status by the end of his contract over his position on the roster and the creative direction of his character. After leaving the company, Wade Barrett joined the broadcast team for episodes of NWA Power in December of 2019. He also pursued some movie stint around the United Kingdom.
Wade Barrett was the winner of season 2 of NXT back when the program used to be a reality game-show style competition in 2010. He would then become the leader of the Nexus faction that took over the WWE starting from that year. After a couple of failed attempts to win the WWE Championship, Barrett would go on to become a 5-time Intercontinental Champion. He also won the King of the Ring tournament in 2015 when he was promoting his Bad News Barrett gimmick.
