As we have discussed before, the Andre the Giant memorial battle royal does not have any value at all. It is more of a useless match just organized to book all those wrestlers who are not booked in a feud that is getting any result at WrestleMania.
It is being organized since WrestleMania XXX. Since then it has never been anything useful. No wrestlers have ever got any special care after winning this match, except Baron Corbin though. Braun Strowman has also won it at WrestleMania 35 but the victory did not have anything to do with his push. Whether he won it or not, he would have been pushed anyway.
What To Expect From This Year’s Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal?
Upon the introduction, the Royal Rumble match no value either. But in five years’ time, WWE made it special and one of the most anticipated contests of the year. But why Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal is failing? Unless and until WWE gives something interesting to its winner. At least a slow main event push, it can never be anything special than just a booking to kill time.
This year WWE is organizing this battle royal again. But not on WrestleMania anymore. They have announced 22 participants who will be fighting in it. Here are the names of the wrestlers that have been announced so far,
Akira Tozawa, Angel Garza, Cedric Alexander, Drew Gulak, Elias, Erik, Gran Metalik, Humberto Carrillo, Jaxson Ryker, Jey Uso, Kalisto, King Baron Corbin, Lince Dorado, Mace, Murphy, Mustafa Ali, Ricochet, Shelton Benjamin, Shinsuke Nakamura, Slapjack, T-BAR, and Tucker.
So, who would come out victorious in this match this year? Looking at the participants, it seems like WWE is trying to make it a little exciting than the other years. There are some big names that are listed including Jey Uso, King Korbin, Mustafa Ali, Shinsuke Nakamura, etc.
With these big names included, it is more likely that one of these guys will come out victorious. Keeping their current bookings in mind, it seems like Jey Uso will come out victorious.
WWE has finally understood that the match is quite useless at WrestleMania so they have taken it to next week’s Smackdown at it has been announced. Maybe they have planned some new storyline for WrestleMania which will start here in this match. This would be a good idea. The match will finally be treated as something useful.
Winning this match will not give him any special recognition that is for sure, and that is why we think he does not need to win this match. This year Andre the Giant Memorial battle royal should be won by either Mustafa Ali or Ricochet. Both of them are extremely talented but not getting the push they actually deserve. This victory may lift their status and maybe they will be taken a little seriously. Like Baron Corbin’s triumph changed his life.
